Following 15 years of work with Alan M. Voorhees and Associates and PRC Engineering, throughout the United States and overseas, I joined with two colleagues in 1985 to form The Matrix Group, Inc., based in Washington, DC. The firm subsequently was moved to Maryland and converted to a limited liability corporation, the Matrix Group, LLC.
We specialized in developing innovative and practical strategies for enhancing the value of investments in the built environment. We focused particularly on solving problems posed by multiple objectives and diverse stakeholder perspectives typical of complex, large-scale projects and programs. We conducted policy analysis, feasibility studies, and market analysis, and provided decision-support tools and training for decision makers in private-sector and government organizations, in the United States and abroad.
Over the past two decades, the enabling technologies of the internet, international cellular communications, and portable computing have radically transformed the operating procedures of project-based professional services organizations. The Matrix Group was terminated as a Maryland legal entity in 2012. Andrew Lemer continues to accept limited-term consultancy assignments and form tailored project teams.
